  • academic and student life at CC
  • campus and community resources
  • living in Colorado Springs
  • opportunities to meet other new international students at CC
  • Cover cultural adjustment and coping skills

 Fall 2023 ISO Mentors

International Student Orientation (ISO) Mentors are upperclass international students who serve as orientation leaders and role models to help with your transition to CC and help prepare you for what's ahead. ISO Mentors will welcome our new international students when they arrive on campus, support you during ISO, and continue through Blocks 1 and 2 of the fall semester by organizing events and serving as a resource for questions about U.S. culture and academic life at CC.

Meet your ISO Mentors here:

Hello everyone, Greetings and a warm welcome to Colorado College! My name is Yanjia Zhao, and I go by Cerella. I'm delighted to be one of your ISO Mentors for the upcoming school year. I am a Senior majoring in psychology and minoring in education. On campus, I am actively involved in the Chinese student organization, where I serve as the Club Chair. In my spare time, I love to play video games(I'm a massive fan of Dark Souls!) and cook, so if you want to try the most authentic (just kidding) Chinese food in Springs, feel free to contact me. Other than that, I'm very proud of being my two rats' parents! I can't wait to meet each and every one of you and embark on this exciting journey together. Let's make the most of our time at Colorado College and create unforgettable experiences!
3 pieces of advice:
1.  Be proactive in seeking support and resources!
2.  Foster a balance between academics and personal well-being!!
3.  Embrace cultural diversity and seek connections!!!

o_kamenarovska@zgjxmp.net

Hi All, My name is Oli and I’m an international student from Skopje, Macedonia. I am a rising sophomore and a film & media major at CC! I spent a lot of my time on campus shooting different video content (both short & long format) and going to different art events! I also enjoy photography & photo editing, and do lots of that while working at the Visual Resources Center on campus. When I’m not doing any of those things, you can usually find me playing basketball in the rec gym. I’m always happy to chat, so don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

3 pieces of advice:
1.  Give yourself grace! It’s normal to feel overwhelmed in a completely new environment.
2.  Reach out to your fellow international students, you’ll realize everyone’s going through similar things as you.
3.  Explore as much as you can in your first few weeks here! Colorado is beautiful and there are quite a few spots in COS that are worth to check out asap!

Здраво! My name is Mila and I come from the capital of Macedonia, Skopje. I spent the last two years of high school in UWC Mahindra in India, and it was the best time of my life! I'm planning to major in History and Political Science, and I am pursuing a minor in Spanish. I am very interested in photography and filmmaking, hence one of my jobs is being the photographer for the Communications Department here on campus. I am an Ex-National Team volleyball player, so if you ever want to play, you know where to find me!

3 pieces of advice:
1.  Breathe - no one else knows what is going on either!
2.  Don't pressure yourself to feel okay all the time, there will be a mix of emotions and a lot of ups and downs while you're here!
3.  Look for people who are willing to create meaningful connections with you, those are the people who will stay your friends for a lifetime.
